Das Erbacher Elfenbeinmuseum zeigt Porträtreliefs, Plastiken und Statuetten aus der Zeit des ägyptischen Herrscherpaares. Insgesamt sind 70 Original-Kunstwerke aus den Beständen des Ägyptischen Museums Berlin zu sehen. Vor allem die
Mitglieder der Königsfamilie sind auf diesen Objekten dargstellt. 'Diese Ausstellung ist ein ausgesprochener Glücksfall', sagte die Leiterin des Elfenbeinmuseums Barbara Simon. 'Zu den herausragenden Exponaten gehört eine fast lebensgroße Echnaton-Statue.'

The preservation of archaeological treasures is not only the main concern of the Egyptian Museum and Papyrus collection. Eight further collections of the State Museums of Berlin house archaeological cultural goods which are usually preserved and restored in non-public areas. To publicize and give a transparency this process is the aim of this exhibition.
Every archaeological object has a story to tell which is a contribution toward a better understanding of the past. Its history can only be experienced and made visible if restorers and scholars of natural sciences and humanities work together. The special exhibition 'Preserving Cultural GOODs' gives the visitor the opportunity to accompany the experts of the museum in their multi-faceted search for the history of the archaeological objects.
